The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has moved to set the record straight on the storm of allegations flooding social media over Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, State Code LA/24B/8325.

Contrary to viral claims that her Certificate of National Service (CNS) was seized as punishment for criticising the government, NYSC says the truth tells a different story, one of breach of procedure, not political vendetta.

Clear TV News gathered from the official NYSC official statement that Rita is among 131 corps members penalised for disciplinary breaches. In her case, the offence was failure to attend the mandatory April 2025 biometric clearance, a violation that, under the NYSC bye-laws, automatically triggers an extension of service.

Management confirmed her service year has been extended by two months, stressing this is “a standard measure” applied to all defaulters, with no exemptions or political considerations.

The NYSC warned against what it called the “politicisation of routine disciplinary action,” insisting the scheme’s mandate remains firmly rooted in fairness, equality, and the constitution.

With the controversy still simmering online, the facts suggest a case of regulation over rebellion and a reminder that in NYSC, the rules apply to everyone.
