The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has responded to the peaceful protest staged at the Lagos State House of Assembly concerning the ongoing constitution of cabinet members for the 20 Local Government Councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state.

In an official statement signed by the party’s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the APC acknowledged the right of stakeholders and members to express their concerns in a democratic and peaceful manner. The party commended the protesters for maintaining calm and orderliness during the demonstration.

“We recognize, acknowledge, and respect the rights of party stakeholders and members to express grievances in a democratic manner,” Oladejo stated. “Peaceful protests are a legitimate feature of civic engagement, and we commend those who have conducted themselves calmly and orderly.”

Addressing the concerns raised, the party emphasized that the process of nominating cabinet members is being guided strictly by laid down rules, internal party guidelines, and the recommendations of local party leadership after broad consultations.

“The party at the state level only plays an advisory role,” the statement clarified. “We vehemently deny any allegation of imposing nominations on any local government.”

The APC urged interested individuals to channel their concerns through the appropriate local party structures, reiterating that those local organs hold the primary authority in the nomination process.

“We remain committed to constructive dialogue to review concerns and disputes to ensure fair outcomes in line with party values,” the spokesperson added.

The statement also called for patience and understanding from all stakeholders, assuring that the party remains capable of resolving internal matters without external escalation.

“Our ultimate goal is stability within both the party and the state governance structure,” Oladejo said, expressing confidence in the leadership across various levels to act fairly and transparently.

The APC concluded by urging protesters and party faithful to utilize the official channels for airing their grievances, reaffirming its commitment to unity, due process, and internal democracy.
