BETWEEN AA EQUATION AND KWARA PROGRESS BY GBENGA OLAWEPO-HASHIM

Yesterday my friend, comrade and long time ally, Governor of Kwara state, Abdulrhaman Abdulrazaq (AA) did his first ever interview granted to any news media to Thisday Newspapers.

With AA, we started the struggle to liberate Kwara state in 1998, ten years after in 2008, I had to move to exile in Europe. Most of our political structure naturally fell under his control.

Upon my return in 2016, I moved to the Centre in FCT. Rahman as we call him, became Governor in kwara in 2019 and he has pursued exactly the visions we laid out: Empower the poor and use the resources of the State to benefit the greatest number of people. His cabinet is 80% young people between ages 24-32. Majority of them are women.

Traditional politicians are up in arms against him because they want patronage.

No one has accused him of stealing. Thank God, Rhaman and I are in the same line of business. We really do not need Government money to be successful in life. We are in the upstream sector of oil and gas.
He had tried his fortune in Ivory Coast as I have done mine in Gabon before Nigeria.
Rahman was one of the first set of Indigenous Nigerians to export crude through “first fuels”.

We are both in APC today and our vision for a better Nigeria is as sharp and clear as 23 years ago when we forged the political partnership to change Kwara and Nigeria.
I will do my best to bring all parties to the table in the Kwara APC, especially as His Excellency, Abdulrazaq has agreed there are things that can be improved, that bother on personal relationships and not policies.
I had a very long conversation with him on this, on his last visit to Abuja, as I have heard with some of his adversaries that have also raised some issues of concern.
