The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dared the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, to visit satellite towns and openly campaign against his appointment, insisting that the people will reject her claims.

Wike’s response comes after Senator Kingibe, during a live television appearance on Monday night, said that President Bola Tinubu’s biggest mistake was appointing Wike as FCT Minister.

But in a fiery statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the FCT Minister slammed Kingibe, accusing her of political desperation and “blindness” to the sweeping infrastructural changes taking place across Abuja and its satellite communities.

“Let her go to Saburi, Dei-Dei, Kabusa, Ketti, Yangoji, Pai, Gomani, Gishiri, Kwaita, Yebu, Sukuku, Ebo, Ushafa, and other communities now enjoying new roads and improvements, and tell the people that President Tinubu made a mistake by appointing Wike as FCT Minister,” Olayinka charged.

He also referenced ongoing developments in Apo Mechanic Village, where traders are finally being relocated to a permanent site after more than 15 years of waiting, and the Federal Capital Territory University in Abaji, which has seen massive infrastructural revival after years of abandonment.

“Renovations of 22 schools have been completed in the last 12 months, with over 40 others ongoing. But Ireti Kingibe, blinded by the fear of her looming electoral defeat in 2027, conveniently ignores these achievements,” Olayinka said.

The statement took an even more personal tone, criticizing Kingibe for allegedly using the name of her estranged husband, Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe, to bolster her political brand.

“At 71, a woman should have a clear identity. She should stop impersonating a man she is no longer married to. Jumping from one TV station to another to disparage Wike won’t save her dead political career,” Olayinka added.

He also accused the Senator of mistreating her aides and failing to pay their entitlements for months. The political feud between Wike and Senator Kingibe appears to be escalating, setting the stage for a heated battle for the heart of the FCT ahead of the 2027 elections.
