His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 91.
The highly respected monarch reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday, just hours after the nation was shaken by the death of his longtime friend and former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
Oba Adetona was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, known for his wisdom, forthright leadership, and deep commitment to the development of Ijebuland and the Yoruba nation as a whole.
